While he was in school, he decided to be an artist. He was good in arts and in 1984 he came to the crafts market. He wanted to be a carver so in 1990 he began carving on his own and has carved ever since. He has 5 children who still go to school. His eldest son is also interested in the arts. He encourages the others to continue in school and do something different. He noticed one of his children is really good in agriculture, so why not continue to go down that path. He would love his children to do whatever makes them happy, though in the Gambia sometimes you need to do something that will feed your family, whether you love it or not.
