Description
Africa could be considered the continent of festivals. The Ouidah voodoo festival in Benin, Gerewol in Chad, Aboakyir in Ghana or the festival of the dancing masks in Burkina Faso. These are just some of the many festivals and rituals taking place in Africa during the year. Every ceremony has its defining characteristics, but almost all of them include music and dancing, many times with appropriate garments and masks. Though this figure is purely decorative, it represents the people who traditionally appear in festivities to motivate participants to join the dances.
