Just by watching the work of Saidou Guindo, you can see how truly and naturally gifted African artisans are. Saidou had to quit school and start working because his parents could not afford his education. However, this was no impediment to developing all his natural talent. This talent is palpable in every piece of work you see in his workshop, because he is capable of creating the most beautiful items using almost anything. His recycled pieces are made using those things thrown away and no longer useful for the vast majority. The middle part of the frog comes from a motorcycle. This piece depicts a frog playing the kora, an instrument invented by the Mandinka using a calabash cut in half and covered with cow skin. Its sound resembles that of a harp, and the kora player is called a Jali.
