Description
The pygmies, characterized by their big heads and short bodies, have historically always been viewed as inferior, which has translated into systematic discrimination. At a state level, Pygmies are not considered citizens by most African states and are refused identity cards, deeds to land… Legend tells that one king announced that they should not only be respected, but also protected and worshipped, because they were something unique. They were invited by the king, but because they feared men, they would never come. Hence, the king would use a sculpture of a pygmy to acknowledge their existence, representing their presence.
